Cape Cornwall Art and Craft Exhibition
Posted on
Running from Monday 7th August until Friday 18th August, this huge exhibition and sale of art and crafts at Cape Cornwall School in aid of Cancer Research UK is an event definitely not to miss.
Jam packed with a huge range of beautiful items from local artists and crafters, it's an amazing event to spend an hour or two at. Everything is for sale, and not only will you be purchasing and supporting a local artist, you'll be helping raise funds for CRUK too.
Since the event started, the fundraising committee have raised over £1 million, absolutely incredible - and they're working hard towards their next milestone of £2m.
Run entirely by volunteers, this amazing Exhibition was started in 1967 by the late Dr David Jefferson Brewer who had seen the high quality paintings and crafts being created in local homes, and had the vision to use them to raise funds for what was then, the British Empire Cancer Campaign Committee.
This first Exhibition was held in the Parish Rooms with items on display only and raised £200.
The Exhibition moved on to the W I Hall and then to the newly opened Cape Cornwall School.
As time has gone on the Exhibition has expanded and now uses 3 halls in the school, has approx 400 Exhibitors each year making it one of the largest Art and Craft Exhibitions in the south west of the UK.
